Chemical Peel
Chemical peel is a technique to improve and smoothen the texture of facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is especially beneficial to individuals with wrinkles, uneven skin pigmentation and facial blemishes. In this, a chemical exfoliating solution is applied to the skin, which causes it to "blister" and eventually peel off. The regenerated skin is usually less wrinkled and smoother.

- Good for rough, dry skin.

- Skin redness
- Mild skin irritation
- Dryness
Phenol peels- strongest of all chemical solutions and results in a deep skin peel. Effects of a phenol peel are long lasting, and in some cases are visible even 10 years later. Improvements in the skin are quite dramatic.
Used to -
- Correct blotches caused by sun exposure or ageing.
- Remove precancerous growths
- Smoothen coarse deep wrinkles.
May cause -
- Heart problems
- Reduce the ability to produce melanin
- Increases vulnerability towards sun
What to do if preparing for a chemical peels -
Prior to chemical peels treatments,
- certain drugs needs to be discontinued alongwith preparation of the skin with topical pre-conditioning medications.
- the patient is advised to clean the area with an antiseptic soap that removes excess oils the day before.
You may have to spend a month or more in the pre-treatment phase before the doctor schedules your actual peel.
Post - treatment effects -
- Immediately after a chemical peel, it is common to experience some temporary flaking or scaling, redness and dryness of the sin.
- However, these conditions disappear as the skin gradually adjusts to the chemicals.
- Sometimes swelling also occurs.
